Two-year-old filly Cautious ran a cracker on just her second start when finishing third of 11 runners in yesterday's Gr.3 Mal Secull Chairman's Stakes at Caulfield in Australia.

The Robert Smerdon-trained daughter of stallion Lonrho was no match for impressive winner Nayeli, but in gaining a black-type placing looks another valuable asset for Qatar Bloodstock Ltd.

Ridden by Ryan Maloney, Cautious started as the outsider of the field, yet defied her price and built on a good effort when third on debut at the same track two weeks' earlier.
