Classic winner Just the Judge stands out at Mares Sale

Based for the sale at Terrace House Yard, the daughter of Lawman is being offered tomorrow (Tuesday, December 2 as Lot 1852) to complete a partnership between Qatar Racing and the Sangster family. A beautiful filly, Just The Judge has been calmness personified during her time in Newmarket, and been hugely popular with bloodstock agents and stud owners who have beaten a path to her stable door.

Bred by Joan Dempsey, she was bought as a yearling for 50,000gns by trainer Charlie Hills and BBA Ireland, but after she won a Listed race at Newbury Sheikh Fahad bought a share in her privately. Within weeks she had added to her record with victory in the Gr.2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket.

The following season she finished runner-up in the Gr.1 1000 Guineas, she won the Gr.1 Irish version and was then third in the Gr.1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. High-class efforts this have included third places in the Gr.1 Pretty Polly Stakes and Gr.1 Beverly D. Stakes, and victory in the Gr.1 E P Taylor Stakes.

Hills and his brother Michael, who rode Just The Judge during her juvenile season, have been among visitors to see the four-year-old this morning, while the trophy she won when landing the E P Taylor is proudly on display at the Tweenhills Farm and Stud hospitality marquee at the sales.
