The winning filly was an unconsidered 25/1 shot, but she was given an ice-cool ride by Graham Lee, who held his nerve and stayed hard by the running rail on the fastest strip of ground until a gap appeared inside the final furlong. He told Sky News: "I got on to the fence and it was just a case of riding her for luck."

Dark Reckoning won by a short-head from Parsley, with another Qatar Racing runner, Ainippe, a further two and a quarter lengths behind in third.

Duffield said: "This filly has done nothing wrong. She's won two races and deserves her rating of 90.

"I'm glad she's justified our faith from day one and has managed to win a Group Three."

Bred by Newsells Park Stud, Duffield's filly was bought by David Redvers for 31,000gns at DBS's Premier Sale last year. She has now won three times from six starts, and collected more than £50,000 in prize money.
