Elm Park and Rogue Runner for Derby

The Qatar Racing hopeful will be joined in the line-up by Rogue Runner, who will carry the same colours and who becomes only the second horse trained in Germany to contest the famous race - the first was Chopin, also trained by Andreas Wohler, and who finished seventh two years ago for Pearl Bloodstock.

Trainer Andrew Balding reports Elm Park in "fine form" ahead of the big race, and he heads to Epsom with a leading chance - a Group One winner at two, he was third (pictured, in sheepskin noseband) in the Gr.2 Dante Stakes at York on his reappearance this season. The two who finished ahead of him that day - Golden Horn and Jack Hobbs - will be among a number of tough opponents tomorrow, but they had the advantage of a run before York, and Elm Park should improve for that outing.

Rain is forecast for the South London area, and that would suit Elm Park, but how much will fall is not clear. Andrea Atzeni rides the colt, while Oisin Murphy partners Rogue Runner.

Qatar Racing's Bellajeu lines up in today's fillies' Classic, the Investec Oak (16.30) and Arod tackles the Gr.3 Diomed Stakes (15.10), but Lightning Thunder will not run in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes.
