A trio of arrows to aim at the Gr.1 Queen Anne Stakes, a crack at the big sprint and a smart two-year-old are all Qatar Racing ingredients for day one of Royal Ascot.

The iconic race meeting opens on Tuesday and involves six high-class races each day through to Saturday none of the races are sponsored, the Royal Family and their guests attend each day and are driven to the grandstand in a succession of horse-drawn carriages, and while international challengers have become an increasingly important element of the occasion it remains quintessentially British.

Few if any other race meetings open with three Group One races, but Royal Ascot does, and Qatar Racing has representation in two.

Arod, who was denied a run at Epsom due to ground that was not quite quick enough, Endless Drama, who was recently third in the Gr.1 Lockinge Stakes, and Lightning Spear who has some smart Stakes-race form, are all entered for the Queen Anne Stakes, which is run over Ascot's straight mile.

Peter Chapple-Hyam, who trains Arod, is praying for a hot week to dry out the ground, but says: ‚"I am very happy with him in every way.‚"

Conversely Endless Drama's trainer, Ger Lyons, feels his horse is best with cut in the ground, but Lightning Spear seems versatile regarding the going he will be making his season's debut having been denied a run at Windsor last month when slippery ground resulted in the meeting being abandoned after two races. Trainer David Simcock, who has taken responsibility for the colt following Olly Stevens' decision to relinquish his trainer's licence, says: ‚"He is a clean-winded horse and I don't think from looking at his previous record he is too difficult to get fit.‚"

Other potential Tuesday runners include the David Barron-trained Pearl Secret in the Gr.1 King's Stand Stakes over five furlongs - he was fourth in the race last year, beaten a length by winner Goldream - and Ready to Roc, from Johnny Murtagh's yard, in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes. A winner at Dundalk on debut in April. Ready To Roc was then beaten on soft ground at the Curragh last month, and Murtagh is also hoping for a quick track on Tuesday.
