And a Stakes-race treble for Qatar Racing-owned horses was narrowly missed at the Curragh when Pearl Of Africa finished second of nine runners in the Gr.3 Dance Design Stakes.

Jamie Spencer rode Pearl Secret, and after the horse leapt smartly from the stalls he allowed him to cut out the pace before landing the spoils by a neck from Mirza. Trainer David Barron told the Racing Post: "That wasn't the plan. I left it to Jamie, but when he popped out so quick there was no point in taking him back."

Saturday's Gr.1 Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock remains an option for Pearl Secret, but a warm, dry week is forecast and the five-year-old would not run on firm ground, so the Gr.1 Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp in early October remains a likely goal.

Cappella Sansevero's win for Ger Lyons' stable today was his first since being bought by Qatar Racing at Goffs' London Sale in June. He finished second the following day in the Gr.2 Coventry Stakes - the winner, The Wow Signal, has won the Gr.1 Prix Morny since - and more recently was third in the Gr.1 Phoenix Stakes, also at the Curragh.

Andrea Atzeni, who rode Cappella Sansevero

Andrea Atzeni, who is to be Qatar Racing's first jockey next season, flew to Ireland today to ride Cappella Sansevero for the first time, and the pair won in good style with the colt pricking his ears near the line.

Following the race Lyons earmarked the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket as the next target.
