The foal (pictured on the home page), owned by Qatar Bloodstock and born at Tweenhills Farm and Stud in Gloucestershire, will make a piece of thoroughbred breeding history when becoming the first horse by unbeaten Frankel to be offered at public auction.

So great is his billing that he and his dam, Crystal Gaze, will be the only lot present in the sales room at The Orangery, Kensington Palace - other horses in the catalogue will be based at Kempton Park racecourse in south-west London, and will be shown to the audience on a screen when coming up for auction.

Crystal Gaze and her foal, who will be offered as Lot 65, will be the final offering. A 13-year-old daughter of Rainbow Quest out of the El Gran Senor mare Jumilla, Crystal Gaze was in the news at Epsom on Saturday when her son, Caspian Prince, won the Investec Dash. Another son, Spirit Quartz, was a Group One performer who scored at Group Two level.

David Redvers, who manages Qatar Bloodstock's interests, said of her latest son: "He is very correct with huge presence and great action. He has what I would call a typical Frankel temperament in that he knows he is special and really owns the show. At this stage he looks like a speedy type which is no surprise given his dam line."

Monday's sale, which starts at 5pm, contains a number of horses in training, plus some breeze-up two-year-olds who will work at Kempton ahead of the auction. It is being held on the eve of Royal Ascot.
