Simple Verse takes her chance in St Leger

David Redvers, manager for Qatar Racing, said this morning: "She has scoped clean and looks in great order, so she has been supplemented for the Leger. The plan is to run in that race, rather than Thursday's [Gr.2] Park Hill Stakes."

The Ralph Beckett-trained Simple Verse was an impressive winner last time out (pictured), taking the Gr.3 Markel Insurance Fillies' Stakes at the Qatar Goodwood Festival - that race was run over the St Leger distance of 14 furlongs, and it was her easiest victory to date. She was a €240,000 yearling purchase by Redvers, and has now won three times.

Last week, when the Park Hill was still under consideration, Beckett said: "Doncaster should suit her better than Goodwood in the sense that she is a big, long, tall filly. I definitely think the track there will play to her strengths."
