The four-year-old gained second near the line in the 12-runner contest, won by the Corine Barande-Barbe trained Garlingari, who also won last month's Gr.3 Prix Exbury ahead of Sumbal.

Trainer Francis Graffard reports the grey came out of the race well and will now head for the Ganay, which this year is being run at Saint-Cloud while reconstruction takes place at Longchamp.

Oisin Murphy rode Sumbal in a race for the first time yesterday, and he will be on board Fourth Waytomorrow when Newmarket's Craven meeting becomes the first significant Flat turf fixture of the year in Britain.

Owned by Qatar Racing and trained by Roger Varian, Fourth Way is one of 14 fillies declared for the Gr.3 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes over seven furlongs. She won a maiden at Yarmouth last year and was then placed in a Listed race at Newbury, and her trainer reports her to have wintered well.

Illuminate, who trainer Richard Hannon states will not run if the ground is too soft, and Nathrah, have been placed in Group One races, and it looks a good renewal of a race which invariably gives clues to the fillies' Classic, the Gr.1 QIPCO 1000 Guineas.

At Windsor this afternoon the George Peckham-trained Iftitah becomes a first turf runner in Britain for Qatar Bloodstock stallion Harbour Watch, who stands at Tweenhills in Gloucestershire.
