Qatar Racing's grey son of Danehill Dancer takes on six rivals, and faces older horses for the first time in his career - the only other three-year-old in the race is British challenger Scottish from Andrew Balding's stable.

Sumbal, who is trained by Francis Graffard, made his racecourse debut in March and won his first three races impressively, including the Gr.2 Prix Greffulhe, before he took fifth spot in the Prix du Jockey-Club at Chantilly in June. He clearly relished soft ground during the spring and so was given a break for an autumn campaign, which begins tomorrow. Andrea Atzeni is in the saddle.

Wet Sail is another Stakes runner for Qatar Racing - the Charlie Fellowes-trained gelding runs this afternoon in Newmarket's Listed Hopeful Stakes (15.25) sponsored by Stobart. Third in a Listed event at Chester on his most recent start, Wet Sail is ridden by Atzeni and faces nine rivals. Fellowes said: "The ground is good to soft, which is perfect for him, and we think the track will suit because he is small and well balanced. Physically he's the best he's been all year."

At Goodwood today Suzi's Connoisseur heads the early-morning market for the 888 Handicap (14.35). Stuart Williams has booked Oisin Murphy for the ride, and although the four-year-old will need luck in a field of 20 horses he should go well before heading to Scotland for the Ayr Gold Cup.

At the Curragh tomorrow both Lat Hawill and Chopin carry Qatar Racing colours for trainer Ger Lyons in the Tote Irish Cambridgeshire (16.50).
