Wealth of Qatar Racing opportunities at Tattersalls

The four-day event has attracted horses from trainers based around Britain, Ireland and France, and involves consignments from some of the sport's best-known racing and breeding operations. It offers an opportunity to source a horse that can improve with age, as witnessed by G Force, who was sold by Qatar Racing at Tattersalls as a two-year-old, and went on to win the Gr.1 Haydock Sprint Cup.

With the exception of Doncaster Cup winner Pallasator (Lot 745), who is being offered from Sir Mark Prescott's Heath House Stables tomorrow evening, Qatar Racing's draft is being consigned by Jamie Railton. Among those who went under the hammer this morning Musical Taste (Lot 14) changed hands for 14,000gns, while Brutus (Lot 85) made 28,000gns.

Others to note include the Ger Lyons-trained Sacrificial (Lot 771), Fog Of War (Lot 725), and Lat Hawill(Lot 341). Listed performer Flying Empress (Lot 1024), a two-time winner, has scope for further improvement, while the David Simcock-trained pair of Halation (Lot 344) a winner at Ascot on Shergar Cup day, and Captain Morley (pictured, Lot 724), and the Olly Stevens-trained Gamesome (Lot 392), are reliable handicappers.

The well-regarded Flaming Spear (Lot 343) heads through the ring this afternoon, as does smart Wet Sail (Lot 395), while the Charlie Hills-trained Aces (Lot 1090) goes through the ring on Wednesday.

Among less-exposed three-year-olds likely to attract interest are Master Of Irony (Lot 652), a dual winning son of Makfi, and the Galileo colt Murgan (Lot 585), who recently secured an overdue first victory when easily winning his maiden.

Horses from the draft that have been withdrawn from the sale are as follows: Lots 15, 268, 342, 394, 439, 504, 770, 772, 896, 897, 1343, 1590, 1652.

Nothing blue in Leopardstown win for O'Callaghan

Congratulations to Michael O'Callaghan, who trained his first Group winner on Saturday when Qatar Racing's Blue De Vega landed the Gr.3 Killavullan Stakes.

The victory followed Michael's first Stakes winner, Letters Of Note, who took a Listed race at Naas in July carrying Pearl Bloodstock's colours.
