Williams-trained Limerick Lord bids to bring up the ton

Horses owned outright or in partnership by Sheikh Fahad - in the guise of Qatar Racing, Pearl Bloodstock and Qatar Bloodstock - have recorded 99 winners worldwide, the most recent being Bryony, who scored at Cranbourne in Australia for trainer Robert Smerdon on December 20.

Limerick Lord, who is trained in Newmarket by Stuart Williams (pictured), carries hopes of making it to 100 when he tackles the 32red.com median auction maiden race (1.40) under jockey Jamie Spencer. Twelve horses are due to go to post, headed by the Jeremy Noseda-trained Free One and Marco Botti's Plaisir, two juveniles who have had the benefit of racecourse experience.

Limerick Lord, who is described by his trainer as "enthusiastic with a good temperament", was bought at Doncaster breeze-up sales in April this year by David Redvers Bloodstock for £34,000.

Footnote: Limerick Lord finished out of the places as 66/1 outsider Eve Campo beat Plaisir and Free One - the quest for 100 winners continues into 2015.
