Sunstrike gave Qatar Racing its first 2-year-old winner of the year when getting up late in a competitive fillies' maiden over six furlongs at Kempton on Wednesday.

Sunstrike had shaped with promise at Wolverhampton on her debut nine days earlier and progressed plenty to win from Blaast, who had also produced an encouraging perfromance on her own debut at Windsor.

Sunstrike is the only juvenile filly run by John and Thady Gosden so far this season and won under a cool ride from Oisin Murphy. She could have the option of the Gr.3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot now.

She was bough from Yeomanstown Stud for 390,000gns as a yearling by David Redvers and is a full sister to 2-year-old Listed winner over seven furlongs Dark Liberty, as well as a half-sister to mile Listed winner Queen of Love.
