Glass House set to join Wesley Ward

Top on price was two-year-old Glass House (pictured, Lot 1771), who was snapped up by US bloodstock agent Gatewood Bell for 205,000gns. The daughter of Showcasing caught Bell's eye when she finished third in a Listed race at Dundalk, and the winner, Hit It A Bomb, went on to land the Gr.1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf. Glass House was trained by Ger Lyons for Qatar Racing and Pearl Bloodstock.

Trainer Wesley Ward, well known in Europe for his successful raids on Royal Ascot, will train Glass House said Bell, who also gained War Queen (Lot 1623) from the consignment with a bid of 100,000gns.

Another six-figure filly, Beshayer (Lot 1621) was knocked down to Blandford Bloodstock for 105,000gns, while Ireland's Baroda and Colbinstown Studs gave 85,000gns for Continental Lady (Lot 1770).

The December Mares Sale usually includes a few entire horses with stallion potential at the conclusion of day one, and the sole representative this year was Qatar Racing's Gr.1 Woodbine Mile winner Trade Storm (Lot 1793). He was bought by Faisal Al-Thani for 65,000gns.

Tattersalls December Mares Sale's strongest session started this morning and will include more high-class fillies and mares from the Tweenhills' draft.
