Kiyoshi out to reclaim Sceptre - but Terror lurks

The Charlie Hills-trained four-year-old is joined in the line-up by another representative of Qatar Racing, three-year-old Terror, who is based with David Simcock.

Kiyoshi, a Royal Ascot winner at two and the mount today of Andrea Atzeni, has a 7lb pull with Irish raider Majestic Queen, who won the Gr.3 Chartwell Fillies' Stakes at Lingfield earlier this year when Kiyoshi was fifth, beaten five and a half lengths. Since then she has run two good races at Group Three level without winning, and it is thought the straight seven furlongs at Doncaster will be in her favour.

Terror, who won two of three races as a juvenile, has yet to strike in two visits to the track this year, but she was a little unlucky at the start in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas in early May, and later that month was beaten just two and a half lengths in the Gr.2 German 1000 Guineas.

On that occasion she had to race wide on a turning track due to the draw, and Simcock has been waiting since then for the right race over seven furlongs on easy ground. He said: "She is bright as a button, very fresh, very happy, and while it looks a competitive race and I would have liked a little more cut in the ground I am confident she will run well." Jim Crowley rides Terror.

Simple Verse is still on course for Saturday's Classic, the Gr.1 Ladbrokes St Leger, in which she will be the only filly in an eight-strong field.

The Ralph Beckett-trained Simple Verse, who was supplemented to the race for £50,000 earlier this week, faces three runners from Aidan O'Brien's stable, one from Mikel Delzangle's French yard, and the likely favourite, Storm The Stars, who is trained in Newmarket by William Haggas.
