Lyons share of QIPCO 2000 Guineas line-up

Trainer Ger Lyons (pictured in pale coat talking to Ted Walsh) hopes to run Cappella Sansevero and Endless Drama in the QIPCO 2000 Guineas on Saturday alongside the Andrew Balding-trained Elm Park, while Terror could represent Qatar Racing in Sunday's QIPCO 1000 Guineas.

The 8 to Follow competition closes at midnight on Friday evening, so the clock is ticking for those who have yet to enter, but there are plenty more clues to be gained from racecourse action this week before the deadline, and there will be extra points on offer in the weekend's Stakes races.

The aim is simple - to raise funds for the charity Racing Welfare (www.racingwelfare.co.uk) by giving fans of the sport a chance to follow Qatar Racing and Pearl Bloodstock horses and win a share of prizes worth almost £20,000.

Simply pick eight horses (including four two-year-olds) trained in Europe for the two racing organisations, and each time one of your horses reaches a place you gain points - there are extra points for Stakes races. The person who gains the most points scoops the £10,000 first prize, and there are prizes down to fifth place. Entry costs £10 a time, but you can enter as many times as you like, and there will be a window to change some selections in mid-summer.

Go to www.8tofollow.co.uk, or click on one of the 8 to Follow logos on this website, to see the list of horses and make an entry.

Qatar Racing and associates could be represented by three runners in Saturday's opening Classic at Newmarket, the QIPCO 2000 Guineas, which is the starting point for the QIPCO British Champions Series (www.britishchampionsseries.com).

Elm Park, the winner of last season's Gr.1 Racing Post Trophy, is due to make his season's debut in the race, while Ireland-based Ger Lyons hopes to saddle Cappella Sansevero and Endless Drama. Cappella Sansevero, who is also making his 2015 debut, was second at Royal Ascot, third in the Gr.1 Phoenix Stakes and fourth in the Gr.1 vision.ae Middle Park Stakes last year, while Endless Drama won his sole race at two and was runner-up in a Guineas trial at Leopardstown earlier this month.

Lyons told course-specialist.co.uk: "Both are likely to run although Endless Drama might not make the trip if the ground ended up being on the firm side.

"His is a big, gross horse, weighing over 600 kilos, and he had a good blow after his comeback race. He is a very straightforward horse with a high cruising speed. Every single piece of work he has done has been very smart. He annihilated the field on his debut, and the soft to heavy ground was not ideal last time.

"Cappella Sansevero had a busy two-year-old campaign with a lot of travelling so it was always the intention to start him back in the QIPCO 2000 Guineas. He has had a couple of racecourse gallops and won first time out last season. I have no doubt he will get a mile, I am happy with him and his work has been good."

Pallasator, an 8to Follow candidate who runs tomorrow at Ascot

The David Simcock-trained Terror remains among entries for Sunday's Gr.1 QIPCO 1000 Guineas, and there are plenty more likely Qatar Racing runners to watch this week, including a pair chasing black-type races at Ascot tomorrow. Pallasator runs in the Gr.3 Sagaro Stakes, while Strath Burn tackles the Gr.3 Pavilion Stakes.

Newmarket's Saturday card includes the Gr.3 Pearl Bloodstock Palace House Stakes in which Pearl Secret, Hot Streak and Wind Fire are entered, while Rocky Rider holds an entry for the Listed Harbour Watch Newmarket Stakes.

Queen Catrine could line up for the Listed Conqueror Stakes at Goodwood on Saturday, while Sunday's Newmarket card includes an entry for Bellajeu in the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes.

Guiltless, who is trained by David Brown, is the sole current two-year-old entry for Qatar Racing - she could appear at Salisbury on Sunday.
