Sunlight led home a 1-2-3 for her sire Zoustar - part owned by Qatar Racing - in the Gr. 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington on Saturday.

The Gr. 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes has a rich history and was not only won by Zoustar himself in 2013 but also by his ill-fated sire Northern Meteor in 2008 and Northern Meteor's own sire Encosta de Lago in 1996.

This year's renewal gave further evidence if it were needed that Zoustar is among the most exciting stallions in the world, and we cannot wait for him to join the Qatar Racing stallion roster - alongside new stallions Roaring Lion and Lightning Spear - at Tweenhills Stud in Gloucestershire for the 2019 breeding season.

Sunlight recorded a staggering sixth Stakes success in the Coolmore, and she had also finished third in the Gr. 1 Golden Slipper as a two-year-old last March.

Sunlight tracked front runner Written By until hitting the front over a furlong out, and once again she found plenty for pressure to maintain her advantage.

She has been a truly wonderful filly for her connections, including trainer Tony McEvoy and regular rider Luke Currie, her prize money earnings now totaling over A$3million.

Sunlight is part-owned by Qatar Bloodstock Limited, while narrow runner-up Zousain himself a Gr. 2 winner carries the Qatar Racing colours. In third was another Gr.2-winning son of Zoustar in Lean Mean Machine.

Sunlight was born and raised by our friends at Widden Stud, where Zoustar himself stands in Australia, and we are delighted for all concerned with the stallion and his high-quality offspring.
