The 12yr old gelding has joined Living Legends, currently celebrating it's 20th year. The charity provides lifelong retirement and care for champion Thoroughbreds. Set within Woodlands Homestead and park, one of the Southern Hemisphere's most historic thoroughbred properties, Living Legends provides a fitting home for horses of Selino's calibre. Here, retired champions enjoy spacious paddocks, expert care and the opportunity to continue connecting people with the rich heritage of the thoroughbred industry. 

Selino is renowned not only for his racing achievements but also for his wonderful temperament which has already been on display at the Living Legends headquaters since his arrival last week. It's hoped these qualities will make him a valued ambassador for the thoroughbred industry through the Living Legends #LearningWithLegends education program and their work with disability and community groups. 

The former European-trained Selino, part-owned by Qatar Racing booked his place in Australian racing history when winning the illustrious Gr.1 Sydney Cup in 2021. He went on to win the Gr.2 Brisbane Cup in 2023. Trained in Australia by Chris Waller, Selino began his career in the UK and carried the  Qatar Racing colours into the runner-up spot in the Gr.2 Doncaster Cup when trained by James Fanshawe, before being exported to Australia in 2021 under the new ownership of OTI Racing and Qatar Racing. The strong stayer was a wonderful horse for connections and we wish him a healthy and happy retirement.
