Gold foals popular at Tattersalls December Sale

Angus Gold of Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's Shadwell Estatesbought the stallion's first two offspring through the ring this morning, paying 40,000gns and 42,000gns for colts offered by West Stow Stud and Red House Stud respectively.

The pair took the average price of Havana Gold foals sold at Tattersalls this week to 27,489gns, a 225% increase on his covering fee of £8,500

Other buyers of Havana Gold foals have included Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock, whose purchases have included a 90,000gns for a colt from Kenilworth House Stud, and Mick Flanagan, who gave 57,000gns for Nafferty Stud's colt. Also investing in the sire's stock has been Good Will Bloodstock, buyers of a 58,000gns colt, Thomas Whitehead of Powerstown Bloodstock, who gave 55,000gns for a filly, and David Redvers Bloodstock, whose purchases included a 47,000gns filly consigned by Bumble Mitchell.

Havana Gold, Harbour Watch and Charming Spirit, who all stand under the Qatar Bloodstock banner at Tweenhills in Gloucestershire, are available for viewing at Longholes Stud in Newmarket during the December Sale.

Shuttle buses are running from the Tweenhills Tipi, based just a short walk from the sales ring, to Longholes.

Tattersalls' Foal Sale ends today, but will be followed on Monday by the four-day breeding stock sale, which includes a large draft of fillies and mares consigned by Tweenhills. They can be viewed at Terrace House Yard.
