Qatar Racing homebred Jackknife made an impressive winning debut at Epsom on Tuesday, the half-brother to Gr.1 Coronation Cup winner Defoe another winner for our stallion Kameko.

Jackknife continued Qatar Racing’s recent run of encouraging newcomers when beating his eight rivals in an 8.5f novice for 3yos at Epsom on Tuesday. Given a superb ride by our retrained jockey Oisin Murphy, he is trained by Roger Varian who also guided Defoe to Gr.1 success at the same track.

Pivotal mare Dulkashe was purchased by David Redvers on behalf of Qatar Racing for 525,000gns at the 2020 Tattersalls December Mare and a tryst with exciting young sire Kameko produced Jackknife. The stunning colt was born, raised and grazed at Tweenhills.

Jackknife lined up as the 13/8 second favourite at Epsom and cosily edged out his chief market danger The King’s Falcon, who had shown plenty in two starts for HM The King & HM The Queen in 2024.

Jackknife looks another very promising 3yo to follow for Qatar Racing, joining Gladius, Montpellier, Spy Kingdom, Hit Squad (also by Kameko) and Explode.
