Qatar Racing's Kick On, a son of Qatar Racing stallion Charm Spirit, won his second Stakes race when landing the Gr.3 Tattersalls Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury on Thursday.

Kick On was dropping back to a mile after runs in the Prix du Jockey Club and Hampton Court Stakes, and after being well positioned throughout under an inspired Oisin Murphy, he showed a fantastic attitude to hold off former Gr.1 winner Accidental Agent by a nose.

ÔªøOisin told Racing TV:

Ôªø"He went to post good and relaxed. John [Gosden, trainer] has spent time freshening him up and he was in really good order today.

Ôªø"I wasn't sure I'd won but the horse was giving his all and even if we'd got beat, there'd have been no complaints.

Ôªø"He could probably go back to ten furlongs but a strongly-run mile on slow ground suited him today."

Kick On has now won four of his eight starts, having also landed the Listed Feilden Stakes on his seasonal return. He had also finished seventh of 19 in the 2,000 Guineas.

Kick On was bred by Shutford Stud out of Marju mare Marika. He was bought by David Redvers for 135,000gns at the Tattersalls Book 1 Yearling Sale from Pier House Stud in Ireland. Kick On had also changed hands for 80,000gns as a foal.

With an attitude like his, Kick On is bound to win more big races.
