Naval Warfare and Fierce Impact sell to Australia
Qatar Racing sold 23 horses at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale, including Fierce Impact and Naval Warfare who will now continue their careers in Australia.
Naval Warfare went through as Lot 957 and sold for 160,000 guineas to leading Australian trainer Chris Waller. The likeable Naval Warfare, a three-time winner, will now be a stablemate of the likes of Winx, and we wish his new connections the best of luck.
The same goes for the new owners of Fierce Impact (pictured), Lot 1038, who went for 120,000 guineas to Australian trainer Matthew Smith. Fierce Impact typifies the international nature of horse racing in the 21st century as he was bred in Japan - by Deep Impact out of a Japanese Gr. 3 winner - is related to some top performers in the United States and has been campaigned in Britain. He'll now hopefully make his mark in the Southern Hemisphere, too.
Another notable sale from the Qatar Racing draft was Savannah Storm, for whom Aidan O'Ryan and Gordon Elliott paid 75,000 guineas. The Listed-placed Savannah Storm is out of a half-sister to Gr 1-winning hurdler Rainwatch and we're sure he's going to do well in his new career over jumps.
Other Qatar Racing-owned horses to sell at the sale included the filly Holy Cat, who went for 65,000 guineas to Howson and Houldsworth Bloodstock, Gold Spinner, who was purchased for 46,000 guineas by John Walsh Bloodstock, and War Brigade, who was picked up for 40,000 guineas by Ian Williams and will presumably now go jumping.
Out thanks go to Jamie Railton and his first-class team for preparing and selling the horses across the week.
