On watch for Harbour foals at December sale
Resident at Tweenhills Farm and Stud, Harbour Watch got away to a good start at Goffs last week when six of his offspring changed hands at an average of €21,000, a solid return for breeders given his £7,500 covering fee. A son of Acclamation - who was a champion first-crop sire - Harbour Watch was a brilliant two-year-old, unbeaten in three races including the Gr.2 Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. Injury prevented him from racing at three and he retired to stud in 2013.
Tweenhills Farm and Stud is offering ten foals this week, including three by Harbour Watch and four by Makfi, who has been a member of the same roster, but who stands under the Qatar Bloodstock banner at HH Aga Khan's Haras de Bonneval in France next year.
Harbour Watch's offspring from Tweenhills are a filly out of Gypsy Carnival (Lot 600) from the family of recent Gr.1 Cox Plate winner Adelaide, a filly who is the first foal of Blonde (Lot 657), a half-sister to multiple black-type winners, and a colt out of the winning mare Blas Ceoil (Lot 946), another sibling to a cluster of Stakes winners, including Gr.2 Ballyogan Stakes heroine Radharcnafarraige. Further family members include Derby winner Teofilo.
Blas Ceoil is among 21 fillies and mares catalogued to appear from Tweenhills Farm and Stud at next week's December Mares Sale - she is carrying to Havana Gold, who began covering duties for Qatar Bloodstock this year.
Havana Gold will be parading during the December Sale at Longholes Stud near Newmarket where he will be joined by a pair of triple Group One winners, namely Charm Spirit, who joins Tweenhills' roster next year, and Sheikh Fahad's Dunaden, who is to stand at Overbury Stud.
