High-class stayer Pallasator makes his eagerly awaited hurdling debut for Gordon Elliott at Naas on Saturday.

Pallasator brings a high level of Flat ability (Timeform-rated 117 at his best) to his new career, which will begin when he lines up against 11 rivals in the Hospitality At Naas Maiden Hurdle over two miles and three furlongs at Naas (1.45pm) on Saturday.

Gordon Elliott reports that the enigmatic Pallasator has schooled well, and the gelding comes into the race on the back of a nice confidence booster after winning the John Shortt Legends Challenge Race at Punchestown a month ago. Norman Williamson had the pleasure of riding Pallasator that day (pictured), and Keith Donoghue gets the leg up on Saturday.

Pallasator is a half-brother to a three-time winning hurdler in Khan Tengri, and by the same sire - Motivator - as several good hurdlers, including Modus and Domination. Also, Pallasator's dam Ela Athena is a half-sister to the hurdlers Snow's Ride (multiple winner) and Precious Dancer.

The race will be a good test of Pallasator's hurdling credentials, though, as aside from the experienced pair of Laverteen and Someday, he's taken on by high-quality bumper performers Paloma Blue and Next Destination. Sally Park is another good prospect from bumpers.
