Pallasator wins over hurdles
The popular Pallasator got off the mark at the third time of asking over hurdles at Leopardstown on Friday afternoon...
Stepped up to a full two and a half miles over jumps, and with the ground not as testing as on his first two starts over obstacles, Pallasator tanked through the Donohoe Marquees Maiden Hurdle before easing seven and a half lengths clear of runner-up Dunvegan.
Granted, with favourite Jetez running below form it wasn't the strongest of contests, but Pallasator hosed up and, most importantly, looked to be thoroughly enjoying himself.
It was the second time he'd been ridden by Davy Russell for Gordon Elliott and the pair clearly get on well - just like Pallasator did with Norman Williamson when they won a charity race back in October (pictured).
After the race, Elliott's right-hand man Ian Amond told the press: "He obviously has plenty of ability, and it was grand to get his head in front. It was probably a weak enough race but it will give him plenty of confidence, and hopefully he can kick on from that.
"I'd say better ground will probably suit him. Every race he's behaving himself more and more, and if he stays doing that he'll be alright."
Russell added: "Sheikh Fahad enjoys watching them and is very pleased that he's made the transition. All owners want is winners, and hopefully it may open up the door to some more in those colours."
There are options now open to Pallasator and we're sure Gordon and his team will continue to do well with him.
