Pearl Secret faces bullet challenge
Trainer David Barron does not want to commit the horse on ground that is too quick and will make a final decision after walking the course, but today's race represents five-year-old Pearl Secret's easiest task since he won a conditions event at Nottingham in the spring.
He has since finished close up in three Group races, most recently when tenth of 16, but only five and a half lengths behind winner Sole Power, in the Gr.1 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Jamie Spencer has a fine record on the Qatar Racing-owned horse, and he will also wear the same colours on Yenhaab in a Betfred-sponsored handicap (16.15) over nine furlongs at the same meeting.
Yenhaab has yet to finish out of the first four in seven races, and trainer William Haggas said: "He should be suited by the track and trip and I hope the rain stays away. I have put a pair of cheekpieces on just to help him concentrate."
Barron also runs Looking Good in a nursery at Sandown today (16.25) under Andrea Atzeni, while another juvenile, Crikey, lines up for Kevin Ryan's stable at Chester (16.40) with Harry Bentley in the saddle.
Two Qatar Racing-owned horses take in Stakes races at the Curragh tomorrow - Cappella Sanseveroruns in the Gr.3 Round Tower Stakes (15.05) while Pearl Of Africa contests the Dance Design Stakes (15.35).
