Today's racing includes the reappearance of Qatar Racing's New World Power, who made a very favourable impression on debut at Newbury recently.

A son of Japan-based sire Deep Impact, the three-year-old runs in a maiden (16.30) at Sandown Park where he is joined in the line-up by Madame Chow, who is owned in a partnership involving Sheikhs Khalifa and Suhaim, plus Qatar Racing, and Faction.

Fran Berry rides the Ralph Beckett-trained Madame Chow, Joshua Bryan will be legged up on Faction from Andrew Balding's stable, while Oisin Murphy partners New World Power, who was bought at the JRHA Select Sale on the island of Hokkaido in July 2014. Roger Varian, who trains the colt, says: ‚"I have been pleased with him since his Newbury debut and feel he has stepped forward from that run. The form of that race is working out quite nicely.‚"

At Chester the Robert Cowell-trained Gwendolyn lines up in a sprint handicap (16.00), although Britain's tightest racecourse is no friend to horses drawn high, and the filly has been allotted stall eight in a field of 11. Ted Durcan rides Gwendolyn, who is described by Cowell as ‚"a tough filly with a big heart‚".

Tomorrow's action at Salisbury includes the Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Cathedral Stakes (15.45) in which Strath Burn (pictured in maroon in picture below) bids to regain the winning thread. Trained by Charlie Hills for Qatar Racing and Ronnie Bartlett, Strath Burn finished fourth on his season's debut to The Tin Man at Windsor the winner is strongly fancied for next week's Gr.1 Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.

That meeting starts on Tuesday, and will involve a number of Qatar Racing runners throughout five days of world-class action.
