Secret and Suzi's sell at Tattersalls
Pearl Secret and Suzi's Connoisseur found new owners when coming up for sale at Tattersalls' Horses-in-Training Sale yesterday.
Group Two winner Pearl Secret, a seven-year-old entire horse, was knocked down for 42,000gns to Daniel Creighton of Northamptonshire-based Salcey Forest Stud, while Suzi's Connoisseur made 52,000gns to a bid from his trainer, Stuart Williams, who was acting for another client in his Newmarket yard. A talented handicap sprinter, five-year-old Suzi's Connoisseur ran two cracking races at Goodwood this year and was beaten just a head when second of 17 runners at that track in August.
Qatar Racing horses, all consigned by Jamie Railton, have continued in demand today at the final session of the four-day sale. Qatar's champion trainer, Jassim Mohammed Ghazali, gave 57,000gns for High Commander, the Andrew Balding-trained two-year-old colt who has shown plenty of promise when third in two runs this month.
Porto Ferro, a two-year-old filly from Johnny Murtagh's stable, made 25,000gns when selling to Newmarket trainer Dr Jon Scargill. He said of the filly: ‚"She's run well in Ireland where it's tough to win a two-year-old maiden. We'll give her a few runs this winter [at the all-weather tracks] and see how it works out.‚"
