Sheikh Fahad rides half-brother to Harbour Watch
Sheikh Fahad will ride Ghalib, a half-brother to Harbour Watch, in the Prince's Countryside Trust Charity Race at Ascot on Friday.
Sheikh Fahad attempts to win his fourth race as a rider at Ascot on Friday when taking part in the Prince's Countryside Trust Charity Race, an event for horses rated 0-90 over the straight even furlongs.
His mount will be four-time winner Ghalib, a half-brother to Qatar Bloodstock's recently retired stallion Harbour Watch. Ghalib is also by Lope de Vega, the sire of such high-quality, Qatar Racing-owned performers as South Seas, Blue de Vega and Endless Drama.
Ghalib gained his latest success in a Windsor handicap in October for Amy Murphy and was bought at the Tattersalls Horses-In-Training Sale by his new trainer David Simcock. Ghalib now carries the light blue and yellow colours of owner Mrs Julia Annable.
Lining up alongside Sheikh Fahad will be nine other riders, among them former footballer Michael Owen who partners the Tom Dascombe-trained Calder Prince. Another contender is Solo Hunter ridden by one of Britain's leading event riders, Harry Meade.
Sheikh Fahad's previous charity race wins were achieved on Almagest in the 2016 Newmarket Town Plate, Labaik in a leg of the Corinthian Challenge later that year, and Brutal in the corresponding race a month ago.
