Special Purpose remains unbeaten
The William Haggas-trained juvenile Special Purpose made it two from two on Monday and will now have her sights raised.
After making a winning debut against colts in a novice stakes at Lingfield early in the month, Special Purpose won by even further - three and a quarter lengths - in a similar race for fillies at Beverley.
Special Purpose showed lots of natural speed, soon handy under Oisin Murphy, but after setting sail for home over a furlong out, her strength through the line again suggested that she could be even better over six furlongs. There are plenty of options open to her for the rest of the season, though her trainer William Haggas (pictured) had mentioned either the Listed St Hugh's Stakes at Newbury or Gr. 2 Lowther Stakes at York before Beverley.
By increasingly-more-influential sire Scat Daddy and the first foal out of Pussycat Lips, a winning daughter of Holy Roman Emperor, Special Purpose was purchased by Qatar Racing racing manager David Redvers for £90,000 at Goffs Premier Yearling Sale last August. She looks an exciting filly.
