Still time to support injured jockeys thanks to our Mongol Derby heroes
Six riders connected with Qatar Racing and including Sheikh Fahad, David Redvers, Kevin Darley and Peter Molony have just taken on the world's longest and toughest horse race to raise money for Injured Jockeys' Funds.
They took part in the eighth Mongol Derby, a 1,000 kilometre endurance test across wilderness that took the stragglers up to 10 days to complete. Half the Qatar Racing team completed the course, but Sheikh Fahad suffered a nasty fall and hairline fracture in his back, Darley endured dehydration and sickness, and Chips Broughton was concussed and had to be placed on a drip in hospital.
Redvers completed the course on day eight, while Molony and Jones joined him 24 hours later, but they had endured extremely harsh conditions, falls from the semi-wild Mongolian ponies who had carried them along the route, sleepless nights, driving rain and meagre food rations it was a heroic effort by all six riders who were raising money for the Injured Jockeys' Fund and the Irish Injured Jockeys' Fund.
Please donate to support the cause by clicking on our Mongol Derby riders' 'Just Giving' page at the following link https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/QatarRacing. The race is over, but you can still donate and make a difference.
