Qatar Racing homebred Cocktail Dress, out of winning mare Honorina, upheld her family’s honour when an impressive winner of an AW novice last night and looks destined for better things.

Cocktail Dress had shown ability on her debut last September and looked an unlucky loser on her return when a head 2nd over 7f at Chelmsford on February 22.

She made no mistake upped to 1m just 7 days later when scoring by 3¼ lengths in the hands of Oisin Murphy. Despite still looking a tad green, Cocktail Dress beat some promising fillies with plenty in hand and there should be even more to come.

The scopey Cocktail Dress has been well handled by George Boughey and may well appreciate 1m2f in time given her dam is closely related to Irish Derby winner Treasure Beach and a half-sister to Count Octave, who was runner-up to Stradivarius in both the Gr.2 Queen’s Vase and Lonsdale Cup.

11yo Sea The Stars mare Honorina remains at Tweenhills and has a yearling filly by Kingman. She has already been covered by Kameko this year.
