Tiara now tops 8 to Follow points scorers
Opal Tiara's Listed-race victory at Carlisle on Wednesday has seen her become the leading performer in Qatar Racing's 8 to Follow competition.
Her win was worth 40pts, and with an additional 10pts for a second place earlier in the season she now heads points scorers. That is good news for contestants who put her in their stables, among them Matthew Tilt, who raced up the table into top spot alongside Tristan Wootton.
They both have 100pts, five more than Steve High and Beck Styles.
The competition's transfer window which was open for 48 hours until midnight on Wednesday gave contestants the opportunity to bring up to two new horses into their stable. Not surprisingly, Bletchley, who was beaten just a short head in last week's Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, and looks a certain future winner, proved a popular choice among those looking to shake up their two-year-old squad.
The competition's first prize is £10,000, there is prize money down to fifth place, and any profit goes to Racing Welfare, the charity that helps people in need in the racing and bloodstock industries.
