Treasuring dominates in Gr. 3 Curragh Stakes
Treasuring gave Qatar Racing a third win in four years in the Gr. 3 Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club Curragh Stakes on Sunday.
Treasuring (pictured winning a nursery at Tipperary) took her record to three wins from six starts when leading from pillar to post in the Gr. 3 Curragh Stakes over five furlongs at the Curragh on Sunday. The opposition, headed by favourite Goodthingstaketime and Listed winner Sirici, came at Treasuring in the final furlong but she was not to be denied, eventually winning by half a length under a perfectly-timed ride from Colin Keane.
It was a third win in the Gr. 3 in four years for Qatar Racing-owned fillies trained by Ger Lyons and ridden by Colin Keane after Ainippe in 2014 and Beat Cheek in 2015.
It was also another notable success for Treasuring's Qatar Bloodstock-owned sire Havana Gold, his second individual winner at Group at level - and his fourth Stakes win overall - from his first crop.
Treasuring was bought by David Redvers for 32,000 guineas at Tattersalls' December Foal Sale. She is out of the Excellent Art mare You Look So Good, who won over seven furlongs as a 3-year-old, which gives hope regarding Treasuring being even better at three.
Treasuring's win gave the in-form Lyons and Keane combination a double on the card after they had taken the opening maiden with the promising newcomer Gobi Desert.
