Turf season comes to an end in Britain
Today's Doncaster meeting is the final one on turf this year in Britain.
Headed by the November Handicap (15.35) the card also includes an apprentices' handicap (16.05) in which young jockey David Egan will wear Qatar Racing colours for the first time. He rides Fourth Way for trainer Roger Varian, who says: ‚"David is a very promising young rider and I am sure he will do her justice.
‚"The filly seems in good form and I think the conditions of this race will suit her. She has form on the quick side of good.‚"
Few horses that finish last in a race can be said to have run with great credit, but that would be true of Endless Drama in the Gr.1 Emirates Stakes at Flemington Park earlier today.
A top-class miler, trying 2000m (ten furlongs) for only the second time, he was on the heels of the pacemaker and in a great position with two furlongs to run, but steadily faded from that point. Eased by jockey Craig Williams when all chance of being placed had evaporated, Endless Drama still finished little more than five lengths behind the winner, Awesome Rock.
Considering he had travelled half way around the world and it was his first race for Sydney trainer Chris Waller he had previously been trained in Ireland by Ger Lyons his finishing position should not conceal a good effort, and one which suggests he can win races in Australia.
Qatar Racing enjoyed a winner at Bordeaux in France yesterday when Ming Dynasty won a conditions race for trainer Mikel Delzangles. The four-year-old, who was ridden by Vincent Cheminaud, scored by two lengths in a field of eight runners.
