Great Pearl did not just beat 14 rivals at Kyoto in Japan today, he romped home by five lengths.

Sheikh Fahad's three-year-old colt was ridden by Epsom Derby and Dubai World Cup-winning jockey Mickael Barzalona, who has been granted a licence to ride in Japan.

Great Pearl clearly likes Kyoto and racing on dirt, for he won over the course and distance last month, but coped with going described as 'muddy' on this occasion. Today's victory was his third from five starts, and was another credit to trainer Mitsu Nakauchida (pictured right).

Sheikh Fahad and David Redvers purchased Great Pearl, a son of leading Japanese sire King Kamehameha, at the 2013 JRHA Select Sale when he was a foal.
