Qatar Racing favourite Nakatomi continued to defy his age when winning the Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes (Gr. 2) for trainer Wesley Ward and jockey Irad Ortiz. Jr on Saturday night in Keeneland. In doing so he's secured an automatic spot in the Breeders Cup Sprint (Gr1). Nakatomi, a Grade 1 winner, showed a blistering turn of foot passing six horses in the final 2 furlongs to record victory in America's oldest stakes race. Trainer Wesley Ward credits his out of season care at Fergus Galvin's Hunter Valley Farm as key to his longevity ''He comes back fresh in the Spring and he's still winning'' the trainer said. Owned in partnership with Mrs Fitriani Hay, Nakatomi has amassed almost $2.3 million in prize money.
