Ainnippe takes Ballyogan stakes
A Listed winner at two, the Ger Lyons-trained filly progressed from a satisfactory seasonal debut at Naas in April to be just touched off at Navan in mid-May. Her Curragh win was another step forward and while Lyons said post-race that the Gr.1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot might be flying too high, he felt a Group Two contest was within her scope.
Game Set Dash completed a Curragh double for Qatar Racing, Lyons and jockey Colin Keane when taking a maiden race over 12 furlongs.
A good run of results for Qatar Bloodstock stallion Makfi continued at Epsom on Saturday when the Richard Hannon-trained Nelspruit was second of nine in the Listed Investec Woodcote Stakes.
Makfi is represented by a recent winner this evening when Making Shapes runs at Pontefract (20.10). A member of his sire's first crop, the Peter Chapple-Hyam-trained Making Shapes won a maiden easily at Newcastle and now attempts handicap company for the first time.
