Arod back on busy day for Qatar Racing
The Peter Chapple-Hyam-trained colt faces just two opponents in the At The Races Sky 415 Conditions Stakes (3.25) over a trip of just under ten furlongs. It appears a straight-forward assignment for Arod, who is well clear of his rivals on ratings.
He had a tough race at Epsom, but produced a super effort behind the winner Australia, who subsequently cantered home in the Irish Derby. Before that Arod was second in York's Dante Stakes, and the winner, The Grey Gatsby, won the Gr.1 Prix du Jockey-Club on his next start.
There are two other runners for Qatar Racing in Britain today - Dark Reckoning, from Gill Duffield's yard, runs at Hamilton (2.15), while Cajoling, trained by Jonny Portman, heads to Doncaster (6.30).
At Leopardstown this evening a pair of Qatar Racing-owned juveniles make their racing debuts, while handicapper Magnolia Beach is also in action.
The Ger Lyons-trained Magnolia Beach ran a fine race when second in the Magners Ulster Derby at Down Royal last month, and he will be aided by cheekpieces for the first time when he runs in today's Irish Stallion Farms EBF 'Nasrullah' Handicap (8.30). Lyons' stable jockey, Colin Keane, rides Magnolia Beach, and also partners unracedSacrificial for the yard in a seven-furlongs maiden (6.30).
Sacrificial was bought at Arqana's Saint-Cloud breeze-up in May, while another newcomer, the Johnny Murtagh-trained Hunt, was purchased at Goffs' November Foal Sale. Hunt, the mount of Niall McCullagh, runs in Leopardstown's opening maiden (5.50) over six furlongs.
