The decision to keep Caravel at home in the US rather than venture to Royal Ascot was vindicated when she won her fifth race on the spin in the Gr.1 Jaipur Stakes at Belmont on June 10.

Superstar sprint mare Caravel won the $400,000 Gr.1 Jaipur Stakes on Belmont Stakes Day under regular rider Tyler Gaffalione for trainer Brad Cox.

In second was Gr.3 winner Big Invasion and third was Casa Creed, who had won the last two renewals of the Jaipur.

In addition to a $220,000 windfall – she has now accrued almost $1.9m in prize money – Caravel earned a paid berth to the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint with the Jaipur part of the Breeders' Cup "Win and You're In" program.

Caravel won the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint last November and has remained unbeaten since, with her other victories including the Gr.2 Shaktertown Stakes at Keeneland in April. Another go at the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint remains very much the plan.

Another big win for Qatar Racing over the weekend came in Australia where Selino – owned with partners including OTI Racing – landed the Gr.2 Brisbane Cup for jockey Nash Rawiller and trainer Chris Waller. It was Selino’s first win since he took the Gr.1 Sydney Cup in 2021.

Also Down Under, Extratwo followed up her maiden win in a 1300m handicap at Melbourne and Silvagni (owned with partners including Rosemont Stud) – made a winning debut over 975m at Swan Hill.
