Elm Park's authoritative Listed-race win after a summer break at Sandown last week, and an excellent second at Longchamp on Sunday by Sumbal in the Gr.3 Prix du Prince d'Orange, took Marshall clear of her rivals. Her stable includes Secret Gesture, a filly who has added 50pts to her total, but that will rise by a further 70pts if the appeal against her disqualification from the Gr.1 Beverly D. Stakes is upheld - the result will be known before the competition closes at QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot on October 17.

Harriet Coulson also has Sumbal in her team, and she is now second albeit on the same number of points - 370 - as long-time leader Jesse Rae Farragher. Coulson's string has gained 10 wins this year, while Farragher's has won seven.

Farragher has been nudged back to third, but picked up more points at the weekend when the Graham Motion-trained Peace And War finished third in the Gr.1 Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racing.

None of the top-ten stables has leading points scorer Simple Verse on their side - the Ralph Beckett-trained filly has accrued 115pts this season, and could gain another 70pts tomorrow if the appeal against her demotion to second in the Gr.1 Ladbrokes St Leger is upheld.
