Chemical Charge features among 53 entries for $1 million Gr. 1 H. H. The Emir's Trophy in Qatar on Saturday 24 February.

Qatar Racing's consistent 6-year-old Chemical Charge is on target for the very valuable Gr. 1 Emir's Trophy (Presented by Longines) over a mile and a half on turf at All Rayyan Raceourse in Doha next month.

Chemical Charge enjoyed his best year so far in 2017, winning three times, including the Gr. 3 toteplacepot September Stakes at Kempton in September. He also proved better than ever on his final outing when fourth to the now-retired Highland Reel in the Gr. 1 Longines Hong Kong Vase, taking his Timeform Rating to 120 in the process.

Ralph Beckett reports Chemical Charge ‚"in very good shape‚" and the entries list suggests he's going to hold good claims of gaining his first success at the highest level. His key rivals could be US raider Money Multiplier, runner-up in the Gr. 1 Sword Dancer Stakes in August, and Italy's Mac Mahon, winner of the Gr. 1 Qatar Derby over a mile and a quarter after Christmas.

Last year's The Emir's Trophy was won by Chopin, formerly owned by Qatar Racing.

The $2.95 million Emir's Sword Festival has attracted entries from all over the world, including many others from Britain, among them Tip To Win (winner of a conditions race at the track last time) in the Gr. 1 Al Biddah Mile, and popular 9-year-old Caspian Prince in the Gr. 3 Dukhan Sprint.
