Mother of Dragons is among the fancied runners for the valuable Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury on Saturday.

Mother of Dragons has a good chance at the weights in the five-furlong Super Sprint for 2-year-olds, due off at 3.35pm, as she will carry just 8-0. The weights are framed based on the sales price of individual horses at the yearling sales, and Mother of Dragons was purchased by her trainer Joe Tuite for €2,000.

Mother of Dragons finished second on her first two starts before tackling the Gr. 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot - pictured, above, going down to the post - where she ran with credit to finish in midfield, having started at a big price. She was arguably one of the last off the bridle in that race, and that speed should be a big asset off her featherweight here.

With the weight too low for Oisin Murphy to ride, Jimmy Quinn has been booked.

On an international day for Qatar Racing - we also have Dulverton, Just Gorgeous and Portman running in Australia, and Pearl Dragon in France - our attention will first fall on Gowran Park where breeze-up purchase Ball Girl makes her debut. Her trainer Ger Lyons has found her a good spot as she recieves weight from the key form horses. However, carrying 8-6 also means that Colin Keane is unable to take the mount, so on board will be Keanen Steyn, who has ridden over 300 winners split between South African and India, and who is working for Ger this season. Hopefully Ball Girl will be Keanen's first winner in Ireland.

Qatar Racing's other runners on Saturday are For The Roses, who makes her debut for Johnny Murtagh at Gowran, and Soul Silver, who runs in a handicap at Newbury for David Simcock.
