First Flying Dismount In Qatar Silks
Lunar Impact was a first winner for Frankie Dettori in Qatar Racing silks when the pair won an allowance race at Santa Anita on Saturday, a day after Frankie rode three winners from four rides at the track.
Four-year-old Zoustar filly Lunar Impact had won a maiden special weight at Del Mar in September and recorded her second win without any fuss on Saturday. Breaking from stall 1 under Frankie Dettori, she was soon making the running and responded generously to win by an easy 2¼ lengths.
We even got to see a famous ‘Flying Dismount’ from Frankie after the win. Lunar Impact is trained by Dan Blacker and part-owned by D K Racing LLC, Radley Equine Inc., Rick Gold and Dave Odmark.
Lunar Impact was purchased by David Redvers and Boomer Bloodstock at the Tattersalls October Book 2 Yearling Sale in 2021. She was bred by Paddy Barrett out of his Compton Place mare Button Moon, a Stakes-placed sprinter who has produced three winners.
In what is his 36th professional season in the saddle, Frankie had won on three of his four rides at Santa Anita on Friday too and clearly remains at the top of his game.
