Glance and Judge in transatlantic bid
Side Glance, a seasoned traveller whose most recent race was at Monmouth Park in the USA, is no stranger to long flights, but this will be Just The Judge's first run outside of Britain and Ireland.
Just The Judge (pictured) is part of an 11-strong field for the Gr.1 Beverly D Stakes (22.54 UK time) for fillies and mares over a trip just in excess of nine furlongs, while Side Glance faces six rivals in the Arlington Million (23.36 UK time) over ten furlongs.
Hills said of four-year-old Just The Judge: "She travelled over really well and is eating and drinking. The course has a lovely cover of grass and she had a stretch over three furlongs on Thursday."
Balding fears likely favourite Magician - from Aidan O'Brien's stable - but is pleased a relatively small field will line up in such a valuable race.
European runners today include the Hills-trained Englishman, who runs in Ripon's William Hill Silver Trophy (2.50), while Ann Duffield runs recent Pontefract winner Dark Reckoning in a conditions race on the same card (4.35).
Runners for the team tomorrow include Valonia, who runs in a Listed race at Pontefract, and the Francis Graffard-trained Svoul, who tackles a similar contest at Deauville. Svoul, who was bought at Arqana's May breeze-up this year, won nicely on his debut at La Teste in July.
