Great Pearl bids for fourth win at Kyoto
Great Pearl (pictured right) returns to Kyoto racecourse in Japan tomorrow, bidding to record a third successive victory and a fourth in total at the track.
Now a four-year-old, the son of King Kamehameha carried Sheikh Fahad's colours to victory in dirt races at Kyoto in October and November, building on a racing-debut win on the Kyoto card one year ago.
France-based Mickael Barzalona rode Great Pearl to victory on his latest start, but Christophe Lemaire takes the reins for tomorrow's race, which is against 14 rivals and over a trip of 1,900m (just over nine furlongs). He is one of three four-year-olds in the race, which is due off at 14.35 (05.35 UK time).
Great Pearl is trained by Mitsu Nakauchida, having been bought by Sheikh Fahad at the 2013 JRHA Select Sale as a foal.
