Great Power makes impressive debut
Great Power carried the Qatar Racing silks to a winning debut recently and looks very smart.
Great Power lined up against six rivals in a 6.5f maiden special weight on dirt at Santa Anita and the result never looked in doubt.
The strapping son of Blame cruised around the final bend and won by three and a quarter lengths from Thunder Code (who had finished third on his debut), with another six and three-quarter lengths back to the third. Great Power was essentially an armchair ride for Flavien Prat.
$290,000 Keeneland September Yearling purchase Great Power is trained in California by Simon Callaghan and also part-owned by JSM Equine LLC and Lewis G. Lakin.
Simon said: ‚"He won nicely. He acted like a gentleman, with a lot of class before and after the race. It was a perfect introduction.‚"
Great Power could now target the Gr.1 Los Alamitos Cash Call Futurity on December 8.
