Havana Gold 2yo wins ROA Award
A son of Qatar Racing stallion Havana Gold won the Special Achievement Award at the prestigious ROA Awards on December 9.
10,000-guineas yearling purchase Chipotle landed yet another big prize in 2021 when named the winner of the Special Achievement Award at the Racehorse Owners Association (ROA) Awards.
The two-year-old Havana Gold colt’s CV already included wins in the Brocklesby Stakes, Royal Ascot Two-Year-Old Trial Conditions Stakes, Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot and Listed Two Year Old Trophy at Redcar this year. Chipotle then sold for 210,000gns to continue his racing career in Saudi Arabia.
Congratulations to all those involved with Chipotle this season.
Havana Gold is the leading UK-based sire of 2yos in Europe in 2021. His 32 individual winners – also including Listed winner Fearby and recent debut winner Poppy Bouchet – puts him ahead of Dubawi (31) and Showcasing (29).
Havana Gold will stand for £12,500 (Oct 1st SLF) at Tweenhills in 2022 – his 2021 sales yearlings averaged just shy of 32,000gns and included several colts who sold for over £100,000.
Also standing under the Qatar Racing banner at Tweenhills in 2022 will be fellow Gr.1 winners Zoustar (£25,000 Oct 1st SLF), Kameko (£20,000 Oct 1st SLF) and Lightning Spear (£5,000 Oct 1st SLF).
