Hidden Message's class easy to see
Two-year-old filly Hidden Message made a striking debut at Yarmouth on Thursday, winning easily under Oisin Murphy.
Qatar Racing and William Haggas introduced an exciting prospect on the East coast this week when Hidden Message bolted up from 11 rivals in the Ken Lindsay Memorial/EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes over six furlongs. After stalking the leaders for 4 and a half lengths, Oisin pressed the button on Hidden Message and the response was instant, scooting clear without her rider having to get serious.
Hidden Message already held an entry in the Gr. 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket on September 28, while her dam's 2 wins from 2 starts at two included the Listed Radley Stakes at Newbury, which this year is on October 27. There's also the Gr. 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes, also at Newmarket, on October 12. All those races are over seven furlongs and both her trainer and jockey feel she will have no issue with the extra furlong this year.
Hidden Message is from the final crop of 2-year-olds by Sca Daddy, who died unexpectedly aged only 11 in December 2015. He's also the sire of Qatar Racing's winning juvenile colts Legends of War and Federal Law.
Hidden Message was bred by Frank Hutchinson and is the eighth foal out of Green Desert mare Secret Charm, whose 3-year-old return was a fifth to Attraction in the 1,000 Guineas. Secret Charm is a half-sister to Relish The Thought, another winner of the Radley Stakes and later third in the Oaks.
Hidden Message was purchased for $150,000 at Keeneland's September Yearling Sale.
