Qatar Racing homebred Time Scale by our own stallion Charm Spirit (pictured) looked a very smart two-year-old when running away with the Listed Empress Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket on Sunday.

Time Scale is out of the Holy Roman Emperor mare An Ghalanta who is now 11 and in foal to Zoustar after giving birth to a handsome Roaring Lion colt in January.

An Ghalanta has been an excellent broodmare for Qatar Racing as she's also the dam of narrow Gr.3 Albany Stakes runner-up Bletchley, who was sold for 200,000gns at the 2019 December Mares Sale.

Time Scale improved significantly for her debut when bolting up at Chepstow and then took another step forward when scooting three and three quarter lengths clear of Concessions and four others in the Empress under champion jockey Oisin Murphy.

Like Bletchley, Time Scale is trained for Qatar Racing by Ralph Beckett who said:

‚"If you look back at her debut you will see Oisin got clobbered a couple of times in running.

‚"We ran her that early hoping we could get to Royal Ascot, but it was not to be. We probably could have gone to Ascot, but we decided to go this route instead and take in the race at Chepstow where she got all the bonuses for winning.

‚"She is a tough filly that will take plenty of racing and she will run whenever we can. We will not be hanging around with her.

‚"She will have an entry in the Robert Papin. There is also the Princess Margaret at Ascot and it is just as likely that she could go there. Hopefully we can then look at the Lowther and Cheveley Park later on in the season.‚"
